Mactavish CEO Bruce Hepburn and David Hertzell, special adviser at Mactavish, were quoted in a recent 21st May article by Commercial Risk Europe. Both Mactavish senior executives cautioned that European buyers who do not understand the implications of the UK Insurance Act 2015 risk failing to comply with its new obligations and not being able to recover losses under their policies. Bruce Hepburn further noted the added complexity that parts of policies taken out by overseas buyers may be subject to the Act while other parts may not. While both acknowledged that overall the Act was positive for buyers they were keen to point out that the risk transfer industry had not yet grasped the nuances of implementation and also that communication about the Act had not yet spread fully through the industry, especially internationally.
